  • However, though it may be a valid and true question that she is asking of God, we must know that we cannot lay the blame on God for taking a life. Job 34:10 states that God does nothing cruel or unjustly. Rev 12:9 tells us that the devil is misleading the whole earth. Therefore, Rom 5:12 which in harmony tells as that because the devil misleads us, and death is a result of sin - God does not cause death. The voice is indeed soothing - still we must not condemn God unjustly

    To fully understand this woman, you have to read the novels the musical is based on. She is a fairly uneducated, poor peasant woman who has been brainwashed by a strict Lutheran supremacy. She has been taught to work hard, and have faith in God with Luther's Catechism as the main guideline.Although she lived a godly life she suffered tragedies.

  • @DgreeCelcius

    Her daughter dies, she is forced to leave her home and her parents, she undergoes several miscarriages that makes a normal life with herhusband impossible. She never settles in her new country. No wonder that she doubts her faith and the existence of God.

  • @fingal61 This synopsis I can fully understand. I acknowledge this fact. However, just as we can understand her plight, can we not also understand that we must not ascribe anything evil to God? Far be it from Jehovah God to act wickedly. This song is beautifully sung. Many persons I know personally has suffered ilks similar to her own.

  • @DgreeCelcius It's not my intention to start a debate about religion. I'm an atheist myself, but I have full and deep respect for those who have an honest belief and turns to whatever god they see fit. However, this song isn't so much about blaming God, but rather to doubting the strength of her own faith, and given her background, that's pretty much all that she builds her life around.

  • @fingal61 Honestly, I am not saying I do not understand her position. In fact the piece is a very touching one, very in line with realities and I appreciate that you were able to highlight that in depth. Still, God does not cause persons to die. Misunderstanding this woman and misjudging God, which one of these will not ensure that you defend both truths? I understand her, but I have come to know about God and knows He wants everyone to live forever, He does not want anyone to die. John 17:3

  • FANTASTIC:::::::::::::::::::::

  • Nice clips! :)

    The song is brilliant too, both the english and the swedish version!

  • Mooi deze vertaling omdat ik het Zweeds niet machtig ben maar de Zweedse versie heeft toch meer impact.
