The BLOODHOUND SSC will be employ three Atom chips to manage the calculations behind the car's propulsion systems, including a jet engine from the Eurofighter Typhoon fighter aircraft and the largest hybrid rocket ever designed in Europe.

Given the speeds the car will be going, each processor will be checking the others' calculations to guarantee there are no errors. Another processor will also be used to relay this and other status information, stored on an internal SSD chip, back to the driver on the cockpit displays.

  • @nathanjames098 The intel atom will be used in the car as a signal processor. It wasn't used to make the animation, although no reason why it couldn't do that given enough time.

  • like this can be animated on a intel atom it cant evven play minecraft with out slagin

  • @woshishui007050 Early 2012.

  • @speedfunk :D Fly by wire only means, that there are no steel cables connecting the rudder with the wings and fin. Even a perfectly stable airplane can have fly by wire systems. The only reason to implement fly by wire is if the force needed to steer the plane/car/rocket/whatever is bigger than a human body could produce. Then you have servos that strengthen the impulse done by the pilot to control the plane/car/rocket/whatever... ^^ That's called fly by wire.
