A Howes Class 37 and a Bachmann Class 37 showing identicle start up, horn, and shut down to allow for comparison of sounds. The green 37 is the Howes loco! I would love to know which loco Howes got their recording from, as I've always thought the horn sounded a bit odd. Anyone know?

  • Is the large logo 37 Bachmann or Howes?

  • I suppose I should have put that in the description! The large logo 37 is the Bachmann loco (although now since discontinued). The Howes fitted loco is the green 37. Hope that helps!

  • I have two class 37's - and reckon that the Olivias sound is superior to the Howes. But I like class 37's and use them both regularly.

  • Looking at videos of 37240 based at the llangollen railway in wales. The horn sounds close to that one.

  • Very good. I prefer the horns on the Bachmann, but difficult to tell from the video which has the best engine sound. Which do you prefer? I have 3 of the Bachmann 37's which I really like, though they are not as loud as the 48, 24 or 66, and difficult to hear in a club/exhibition environment.

  • The green "Class 37" is whistling more like a Class 40 !!!! more noticeable on shut down.
