  • Who do you think did better nighttime TPIR, thewhammy83, Dennis, Bob, Tom, or Doug?

  • It's almost difficult for me. I only saw one Dennis episode and two Tom episodes (the ones I have). My opinion would probably be Bob and/or Doug. In my reality, out of every version of TPIR I've seen, I only saw Bob whenever it came on at night. Personally, I would say that Bob, Tom, and Doug did a decent job in the afternoon.

  • Did the daytime version with Bob Barker have a pilot episode?

  • I do not know.

  • Mark Goodson was a genius.

  • I loved Dennis James as host because he was truly an every man. He seemed to align himself with the contestant---one got the sense that he was rooting for the contestant against the machine. He wasn't polished, had a very blue collar feel, and also conveyed just a slight sense of anxiety which amplified the immediacy of the moment. He was good and seems almost forgotten today. Thanks for posting this!

  • Dennis: 2:35

Something Fremantle, Ludia, and Facebook forgot all about in Contestant's Row when we all over bid in their game. :-( Inadvertantly going back to how it was played in the Cullen days as Dennis was saying earlier.

  • I was a kid ubt, I do remember Dennis James as host. :)

  • I wonder if Mark had ANY inkling that in 2011, his "baby" would be embarking upon its 40th season?!?!?! An amazing run!

  • I read years ago that Goodson wanted to remake TPIR & first offered it to Bill Cullen who refused because of all the walking around the stage. Cullen had childhood polio and had difficulties walking. So Goodson's next choice was Dennis James. CBS executives didn't want James and said, "We'll put it on if you get Bob Barker". So Goodson was hard-pressed to hire Bob Barker to put this show on the air. Barker later said he would have asked for more money if Goodson was so desperate to hire him.

  • Can you imagine how strange the world would be if the Price is Right never existed?

  • Those two games would have been GENIUS for the show! Although the first game does remind me of Check Game, while the second reminds me of Golden Road. The world of TPIR is amazing! :D

  • @MikeTeaveeJr - She was indeed.

  • @csx2117 I don't think it was a goof. Remember, this was a sales film and maybe at that time 3 was what they were working with.

  • @thewhammy83 For me, Bob, then Tom, then Dennis, then Doug.

  • Did anybody else notice Dennis's goof during his comments? The comment about the original show which had THREE contestants? While he's sitting with Mark Goodson? They must have really wanted to get this film out in a hurry if they left that in.
