The best band that has ever existed. Without any doubts.
Morrissey is simply genius. Well, genius is really a small word for him.

Morrisey was not the genious of The Smiths. He didn't even write the melodies, he only had the lyrics and his voice. Lyrics fit quite well though and he's a great lyricist, but as a musician, he's no genious. At all.

Really? Did not know that. Meant I'd heard that the guitarist was the one who did all the melodies and chord structures. Atleast for their hit-songs where you can clearly hear the distinct "Smiths" sound. At that sound is not present in Morrisey's solo albums?

Morrisey wrote at least the vocal melodies, on the piano, according to Marr. I got the impression it was very much a team effort though.
