Reuben's varsity club football team, the Lakeland Storm, coached by Javier Moody hosted the semifinal playoff round at home by beating Lakeland Hurricanes 44-8 to advance to Sr varsity finals next week vs either Dundee Hornets or Auburndale Bulls. closed out the regular season 10-0 (including the bye week which counts as a win) The team has also been invited to Nationals (Under Armour & NFL) in Jacksonville in November to play other Sr. varsity teams from around the country.

The Storm varsity have averaged 44 pts/game in the playoffs (out of 44 total) & held opponent(s) to a total of 8 points. [44-6 vs Lakeland Hurricanes]. Reuben also is on the kickoff coverage unit. (In club football, a pass or run into the endzone following a TD counts for a 2-point conversion; a field goal following a TD counts as an extra point).

The Canes scored first and added the 2-point conversion (8-0)--following 2 uncharacteristic Storm fumbles on offense--marking the first time the Storm have trailed in a game this season after ending the regular season 10-0. Because of the lateness of the game referrees called delay of game penalties on the Hurricanes as they should have. A few weeks earlier Storm beat Canes 34-0, but the Cane's held the ball prior to the snap much longer than allowed by youth league rules. Later 1st quarter, Storm tied up game 8-8 after 15-yd penalty on Canes and TD pass + 2-pt conversion. RB Money (RB #2) then ran in TD + 2-pt conversion for Storm lead 16-8. Then Storm recovered onside kick. Gerald (RB #6) ran in TD & on 2-pt attempt refs called unnecessary roughness on Canes so refs awarded 2-pt conversion for Storm lead 24-8. Pig (Javon, WR #5) had the catch of the game, a 40-yds but Storm QB (Trey #12) threw an interception into the end zone on next play. Then Storm recovered fumble on defense. The Storm went into half-time (adjusted to 5 mins) leading Canes 30-8 after a gorgeous TD run by Seles (WR #7) but missed 2-pt conversion. In 3rd quarter, Gerald scored his 2nd TD on run up the middle + 2-pt conversion by Jacques for Storm lead 38-8. Storm fumbled again, but defense forced 4th down. Little JD (Jason #9) scored but 2-pt conversion was missed for Storm 44-8 lead.
