Battletoads (created by Rare) for the Nintendo Entertainment System is famous (or perhaps even notorious) for being one of the most frustratingly difficult video games ever made. This action platformer / beat-em'up is great fun nonetheless. Daniel T describes the play through this way:

man this game was amazing for the nes. how did they get such genesis quality graphics out of the nes? any special chips built in the cartridge?

None that I am aware of, but considering that the game was made later on in the life of NES, Rare must have had a good understanding of the hardware.

This game is the reason of my anti-social life today. Its nostalgic and fun to watch, but it scare me when i remember how much time I spend on this game. While all my other friends were playing sports I was stuck on that worm or ic or swiming levels. Thinking well, it was not a good time...such a waste of life, i regret this. I wish I could go back in time and not to buy this game. Anyway, nice post, i enjoyed a lot watching this all over again. Thanks.

I know other 2 people from my street in Russia where i grew up, they also beat it on 2 player. We spent days and days for like a year playing it with my friend.

I don't know how the hell you beat this. Hardest game ever made. I couldn't even beat it with an emulator with instant saving.

@slivovich I thought it was impossible to beat in 2 player because of the glitch on level 11 where the 2nd player's wheeler won't move?

Definitely a pretty hard game to beat, good job. My brother used to beat this game a long time ago.
