Intel Bangladesh and Relief International-Schools Online, a US based International Non Government Organization, together implemented an Intel Teach program held at Bangladesh Computer Council in Dhaka from August 30th 2009 till September 2, 2009. The program, titled Senior Trainers Training, was a four day long workshop on developing trainers skills on the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and how it can be incorporated into the teaching curriculum. Nine of RI SOLs ICT and Education trainers participated in the training while Erum Faisal, Senior Trainer of Intel Pakistan worked as a trainer for the program. The workshop consisted of rigorous training sessions over the four days where the Intel trained the participants on the core principles of teaching 21st century skills.
IntelĀ® Teach is a professional development program that helps classroom teachers effectively integrate technology in education to enhance student learning. The key objective of the program is to enhance quality and efficiency of the teaching- learning process by using technology. The ultimate goal is to implement the use of 21st century skills in todays classrooms so as to empower the students, teachers and communities. In 2009, RI SOL has signed a MoU with Intel to implement the Intel Teach Program in secondary schools in Bangladesh. RI-SOL and Intel have also been joined by the U.S. State Department Educational and Cultural Affairs Bureau (ECA) to implement this program throughout Bangladesh.
The four days long training took place at the Bangladesh Computer Council in Agargoan in Dhaka. Catherine Hallock, Cultural Affairs Officer at the Embassy of United States in Bangladesh handed out the certificates to participants of the training program. The closing ceremony of the program was also attended by Zia Manzur, Country Manager of Intel Bangladesh, Nazrul Islam, Country Director of Relief International-Schools Online, Sarkar Abul Kalam Azad, Deputy Director (Training) of Bangladesh Computer Council under the Ministry of Science and ICT and Akhter Uddin Ahmed, Program Manager of the Intel World Ahead.
