THE LAST GCR Thomas the Tank Engine Weekend. 29th-31st August 2009

Another outing with the Soar Valley Model Railway Club's Interactive Thomas & Friends Layout to Quorn Station on the Great Central Railway.

This time, everything was based at Quorn with Thomas and Diesel running shuttles round the yard, punch and judy, our layout and the fair.

The mainline trains running ran every hour and met at Quorn Station. These were haulled by:
-ex.LMS 8F No.48305 (Donald/Douglas)
-GNR N2 No.1744 (Norman the N2 from Kings +) (Saturday Only)
-ex.LMS Fairburn Tank No.42085 (Sunday Only)

PLEASE NOTE: Due to unfair and strict rules and regulations made by the new Thomas the Tank Engine Company this could be the last Thomas event held on the GCR. The next Thomas event would be decided on the profit from this one.

Thay did do good Thomas events but over the last 2 years or so, due to the new company, it's declined.

I think Rev Awdry and Britt allcroft were more relaxed about it. Problem is HIT entertainment all they care about is profit. It's a good money earner and the kids love it. I used to be a member on the Barry Steam Railway and we had a good thomas event in 2007.

they should have made the 8F henry because on the number the middel number is a 3 and hide the other 4 numbers with poster paint that can come off later

Yes mate I do lol. Fired it a few times. Nice little machine but thats jut what it is, little! lol. Glad you've been invited back again. You may know that Shack has the BIG one-off 65th Anniversary Midlands event of Thomas on 1st May, as part of our 5 spring Thomas days so that should be one to see! I'm on the Thomas that day so should be great...a complete one-off, huge organisation and arranging going on. should be fun. will u be there that day mate?

I suppose you'd know all about Ivor being at Shackerstone! (at least you still have Thomas!- which I think we (the SVMRC) are taking our Thomas layout back there as we've been invited!)
