i have a broken guitar that sounds just like this instrument.

Why did you take what I said as "hostile"? Did I shout or say it with an angry face? I'm just saying that given historical events, it seems obvious to me.
Chill.

@lionzion22 Whatever, man. I just stated the obvious, no need to be hostile just because I'm a white redneck. Common sense has little space in history, studies and research is what get things done. Besides, it's a theory that the banjo came from that instrument, as much as you might want it to be the case, it is not 100% fact and the origins of the banjo are still obscure, except for the 5-string banjo.
Anyways, that man plays the instrument beautifully, and deserves all the praise.

Studies? How about common sense?

Hi Ulf, I didn't recognize your name initially, but I do remember it mentioned in the article I read about Mr. Jatta. Thanks for your great contribution to the dispensation of knowledge about the musical heritage of my ancestors. Bless you.

His son is also a very good akonting player, ive seen him live many times
Is this the Daniel Jatta who is responsible for bringing awareness of the Akonting to the world?

Correct. It was Daniel I found living 5 miles from my home in Stockholm fall 2000. I brought Daniel to 2000 annual meeting in Boston that fall thus presenting him to the banjo world.
