Song: Farewell to Arms
Artist: Five Iron Frenzy
Album: The End is Here

Lyrics:
You said, Down with the church, with your fists up in the air, all the rancor and the hate, yeah we saw your frigid stare. You hate Christianity, but love your animosity, it's the church who's getting rotten, yet it's Christ that you've forgotten.
Goodnight, goodbye, farewell to arms, it's time. Who incited, what ignited, all this hatred? Say farewell to arms. Broken hearted, dearly departed, maybe we should say farewell to arms.
Lay down your hate, (the burden and) the weight will disappear. If you could separate your anger, from that still small voice you hear.
Clench your fists and grit your teeth, save forgiveness for the weak. Let your bitterness consume, let the salt rub in your wounds. You have saved up all your spite, stoked the flame that keeps the fight, it's so hard to be objective, when your reason is defective.
You say that you've aged, I think you're just enraged.

  • @TheLeaderOf122312 I can't really see anything in here about separation of church and state. The lyrics seem to be speaking to those who are angry at Christianity, to those who are looking at the establishment of the church without seeing the god behind it. I can't draw an undebatable conclusion from the song, but I would say that the main point of it is this: You're angry at Christianity, but you're missing the main point of it all. It's time to let go of your anger and lay down your weapons.

  • @stephenccahill OMIGOSH....that was the best interpretation of the song ever, and i'd like to add that the the 'please forgive me for the week' thing is also part of that. It misses the point of christianity because you dont just go to God and say 'hey, yeah, i've like, sinned over this past week so if you could like, forgive me and stuff'' we need to improve ourselves. nice one!

  • This is one of the best albums by one of the best bands of all time!!

Thanks so much for posting it online for everyone to listen to! :)

  • @TheSilmarillion1 IKR! :O my bro did the same things! he introduced me to alot of music including FIF :3

  • This song is not about what you guys are all really saying. It is mostly and mainly about separation of church and state, love, and peace. WITHOUT DROPPING BOMBS and killing others. "Lay down your hate." Take a few minutes and really listen to the lyrics... Our world is FUCK3D, where did the love disappear to? All we have in this world is hatred, envy, and greed. We as human beings should rise up, become one, and show our governments who "The People" really are. Peace Be With You All.
