Test details:

The Toyota Yaris was introduced in the 2007 model year.

Restraints/dummy kinematics — Dummy movement was well controlled. During rebound, the dummy's head hit the roof rail.

Injury measures — Measures taken from the neck, chest, and both legs indicate low risk of injuries to these body regions in a crash of this severity. Forces on the dummy's head when it hit the steering wheel through the airbag indicate that head injuries would be possible. Head acceleration from the roof rail hit was low.

  • ok this yaris was ok but when u look at the yaris vs camary the yaris fuckin FAILS they sure that the test was done at 40mph

  • Becuz of the laws of physics , this test done here applies only if the Yaris hits a next car of similar weight and size being no more than 150 kgs more or 150 kgs less than that of the weight of the Yaris...the Camry is a midsize car hence the weight is much greater than the Yaris reason for the Yaris obtaining more damage in that offset test you are talking bout

  • @firedemon101 i would say maybe even just 70-80kg in either way

  • yup

  • why does the trunk always pops open during the crash test of this car.

  • @JimmyUnlimit3d oh... so that's why trunk has opened instantly just after the boom! ;)

    just kiddin' :D

  • @ralph0722 that is because is an adaptative airbag that reduces the load in the chest of the driver. Really

  • @sammyvick123 i dont trust toyota look at the 2010 camry hybrid crash test it got 4 stars and the passanger compartment starts to collapse and it doesnt do all that well

  • If you want to see a really bad car look up the Chevy Aveo crash test. The Yaris is actually 4 star rating in all categories.

  • @JimmyUnlimit3d That I dont belive is true. Eventually that energy travels the 'crumple zones" to the cabin in wich the cabin will buckle in real-life situations. No one wins.

  • @MrHasie

In NO WAY do they fix them, because it would cost more to fix than to otherwise. Also, keep in mind that the state which you reside in, may require you to total a car; in the case that it is not totaled, then you will have to re-register the vehicle back with the county and pass inspections. Last but not least, it's also a hassle to insure a vehicle that has the salvage title on it.

  • These crash tests are deceiving. Has anyone seen the Yaris vs Camry crash test? The Yaris gets it's ass kicked. No matter how safe a car is against a barrier, the story can change big time when it hits another automobile.

  • ok so my yaris 5 door 2010 has more air bags than congress. Just sayin'

  • @maxou5757 toyota designs their car's so the energy is transferred to the trunk/rear of the car instead of the front of the car, protecting the passengers.
