"She" - LTAN (Original)

This began as a poem (many years ago, inspired by Yeats) that I wrote in tribute to all the women in my life who I have admired and who have inspired me: from my mother to my favorite musicians and from friends to amazing women I have yet to be inspired by. :) When I began to write songs a few years later I set this to music just to see how it would turn out. I hope you enjoy! The video is a test of my editing skills...thought I'd try something new!

She

she is but a woman
but a simple wildflower
had we strength at the bewitching hour
she possesses a mystery
equal only to charm
in the curve of her lip lies the sign be warned
she of the future
she of the past
she of the present will mortals outlast
the rise of orange
the descent of blue
the changing tide of the obvious truth
born of the filth
born of the pure
born of the ancient virgin whore
she is but a dragon
but a fugitive of dreams
had we knowledge of the time in between
she is but a woman
but a simple wildflower
had we strength at the bewitching hour
she possesses a mystery
equal only to charm
in the curve of her hip lies the sign be warned
she is but a smile
but a cruel bittersweet
our only known victory in a willing defeat
