@humphreybcdrumming Oh i didn't know that about Digikam (Memory-eater), and about Picasa, Google has no plans to update version 3.0 to 3.6, that's why i was searching an alternative, i'll try Digikam :)

@DrBeardo Hey, it's just a Toshiba Satellite A200 laptop. Dual Core 2.2Ghz, ATI HD2600 (with open source drivers), 3GB DDR RAM, 2x 160GB HDD's

Thanks for answering, the only thing i miss since i switched from Windows to Ubuntu is Picasa (F-spot is not for me) but now i'm going to use Digikam

You know you can install Picasa in Ubuntu, right? Just go to Google and their is a .deb you can download.
F-Spot is horrendous.
The only thing to watch with digiKam is that it can be a REAL memory hog, especially when editing RAW files. You have to really watch the memory usage otherwise your computer will lock up as it tries to use swap.
I have 3 gigs of RAM and I can only run digiKam for about 30 mins of editing before having to restart digiKam. It's because it's a native KDE app.
