Only need ID when driving a motor vehicle so just walk away if they start walking towards you because if you did something illegal they would have already arrested you. If they don't have sufficient info most try to gather more to make an arrest when you stop and talk. Cops will use their imagination to find an arrest reason just as much as people with think of ways to get out of a bullshit situation.

It's is not illegal to begin walking away form a police officer and tell them you do not have your Identification if you're not in a car and that you're in a hurry. When I feel like I'm going to be harrases I just walk away and don't stop, and once a cop tried to stop for a "relevant investigation" i got arrested for walking away which they called resisting arrest and the judge obviously dismissed it. If they look like they're walking towards you just walk away.

if they asked me how to turn it off AFTER cuffing me, I would've said "I have the right to remain silent :)" and likely I would've been billy-clubbed.

Why should you not film there. It's a public place, and cops are always the one's saying "if you don't have anything to hide then let us enter, search, etc. Well if THEY don't have anything to hide why not let citizens film them. HA. LOL. Remember though. Have your lawyer's card handy as you WILL be arrested and beaten. Try to have another camera guy nearby and very covert to film the beating. Then take them to federal court and FEED HIM HIS FILTHY BADGE. An honest cop won't stop you.

cknj3746: If someone reported a suspicious character, that is reason for police to INVESTIGATE whether criminal activity is afoot. It is NOT reason for police to deprive people of constitutional rights.

Photographers have a First Amendment right to go wherever the general public is allowed to go, and to take pictures from there.

I hate police officers. They do things they have no right to do. Thats the thing with that job. they feel like they have unlimited power over the public which they do not.
