This is probably one of the most expansive, and earliest games ever made. They just don't make them like this anymore.

  • What the heck is this, anyway? Should be on WeirdVideoGames' channel lol

  • @wandererlain

This is a SUPER oldschool videogame and one of the first computer games I've ever played. It was made back in the early 80's, 1982 I believe it was.

It's about someone on an alien planet that is sent on an adventure to look for "The most amazing thing." They have to trade with aliens and fly a hot-air balloon like thing around.

I mainly have it up here for nostalgia purposes. It took me a very very long time to locate a copy of this game, let alone a copy that worked.

  • @Galaxieretter hey there...thanks for posting ! How did you get it to work ? I tried running it in dosbox, to no avail. I got it of GOG.com.

  • @voltz15 ....I got my first copy on an IBM PC..360K Floppy. You had to go to DOS and start BASIC...once Basic was loaded you loaded the .BAS file and hit F2 (RUN)...would it have killed them to write an F'n batch file to do that for you ?

Anyway...you communicate with the merchants by buying some device to read their antennae.....then you trade chips with them which was cool....game was hard...I had to wait 30 years to open the .bas file in a text editor to figure it out!

  • @Galaxieretter Thanks. It sure is a unique game.

  • @wandererlain Apple IIe far as I remember.

  • @larrytate555 You mean the old apple IIe drives? They were a real pain in the ass sometimes if you got a bad copy to work with.

Did you have luck trying to communicate with the merchants? I was too young at the time to know better.

  • OMG...Epic...I'm almost 40 and getting my PhD in computer Science, and this game played a big role in that !!!! The dudes from Spinaker softerware were geniuses....and this crap fit on a 360K floppy .....any of you youngins know what the hell that is ?

  • This game affected me as a human being. Thank you for sharing!

  • I saw this on a desk when I was 8 years old back then. I now regret that I haven't played this MIGHTY EPIC game :-)))))))))))))))))))))))
