How do you define purpose?
-
It was never shown that something true always has a purpose. Therefore Aristotle's statement could be true while not having a purpose. A higher truth is argued to exist but not a higher purpose.
-
Saying that there is no reason to smash eggs on the roof is a meaningful statement. Saying that there is no reason to live is just as meaningful.
That there is no purpose in life is a purposeful statement because the purpose lies in the person making the statement not life.

This programme repeatedly states that if you think there are no absolute truths or that the law of non-contradiction is false, you are asserting a truth and therefor your argument is self-defeating. But, that is approaching the issue from the pre-determined conclusion that the law of non-contradiction is true. If you look at the issue from the other perspective it would be fairly easy to reply that non-contradiction is both true and untrue. Am I missing something here?

do you really think that it is bot true and untrue or are you just stringing out the argument to avoid conclusion? If it is true and false then the law of non contradiction is false, so we're back to confirmiong it. It really is unavoidable, I think.
