it's a colposcopy, a procedure done to examine a woman's cervix (the top part of her vagina that leads into the uterus) to check for pre-cancerous cell changes indicated by a PAP smear (the yearly test women have done at their annual gyenecological exams). this example shows a lesion (in the top middle of the image) caused by the HPV virus, which causes about 90% of cases of cervical cancer in women.

That depends on the doctor's abilites.Usually this does NOT hurt.Just a small disconfort given by the metat instruments.
