This is a video capture of Part 1 of the House Oversight and Government Reform hearing of March 23, 2010 entitled "Rise of the Drones." The subject of the hearing: the increasing use of robotic drones of various types by the U.S. military for surveillance and attack purposes. This part of the hearing features introductions, swearing in of witnesses, and the beginning of introductory remarks by witness Peter W. Singer of the Brookings Institution. You will notice that while audio is smooth, the video is jerky in nature, missing many frames (an unfortunate byproduct of video capture). What is more jerky, however, is that the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee has not provided any video archive of this hearing to the public, and typically does not for months at a time. This is, therefore, the only place for the time being where you can review this highly relevant public hearing.
This stuff is really frightening. Why aren't these hearings being reported on more widely?
