Ondine - Mariinsky Ballet - 5/13

This clip, along with clip 6/13, contains Lacotte's choreography for the "Grand pas des Naïades" which is an absolute masterpiece, with a marvelously animated corps de ballet. In this scene the Naiad Ondine begs her mother, the Queen of the Sea Hydrola, to let her return to human form (& her sisters beg with her).

Pugni's music is also VERY good, perfect for a scene in an under-water cavern.

It is significant to note that Pugni's music for the Naiades' Entrée (0:00-0:42) is meant to be a musical representation of waves rippling along the shore.

5/13 of the premiere of Pierre Lacotte's revival of the choreographer Jules Perrot & composer Cesare Pugni's romantic masterwork "Ondine, ou La Naïade". March 16, 2006 at the VII International Ballet Festival at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, Russia.

@Bnesque I meant males as Shyklyarov/Matvienko. They added new Siegfried variation in Shyklyarov's Swan Lake, too.

@mrlopez2681 I don't know. But in the last season performances starring Obraztsova/Shyklyarov and Novikova/Matvienko they at least cut out two female soloists' variations and lead males danced very much. And peformance were almost twelve minutes shorter than this one.
