I've been now using the (modified) Edentro Deep water hydroponic system for almost 3 months now. I replace the 30 gallon reservoir every 2-3 weeks with 7 tsp of Maxigro nutrients (1/4 tsp per gallon) and a few ml of food-grade H202 (5%). Every other day I check ph and adjust with either phosphoric acid or potassium hydroxide to get 6.0
Once a week I add a couple gallons of water to the reservoir and additional 7 tsp of nutrients.
The vegetables are growing by leaps and bounds and the hot peppers are flowering!

  • you have different plants on the same system with the same water and nutrients ? can i have different vegetables on the same pvc tube ?

  • @infectedsilence Yes, as long as the nutrient requirements are similar, it will work fine. For example lettuce, herbs, and other leafy greens have similar nutrient requirements but a fruiting tomato plant will not (it will need less N but much more P & K)

  • What are you doing for a lighting cycle?

  • 16 hours on 8 hours off. Greens such as lettuce prefer long day cycles.

  • do you use tap water? or bottled spring water? jus curious..

  • I use tap water, it's cheap and it works. Bottled water doesn't make financial sense.

  • nice setup man. I got a very much smaller setup, but one day hope to do something like what you got. Check out my vids and comment if you like

  • One of Edentro's experimental units has not had water changed for 6 months. We used a reverse osmosis filter (with 5ppm contaminants down from 300), and you can keep adding it onto the older water. We have also never used a pH up or down in this system and the plants look great. However, the hydrogen peroxide was key to making this work past 2 months (1 mL once a day). reverse osmosis > bottled water but has upfront costs ($200). We badly want a permanent water hook-up.

  • Wow this is pretty impressive. I wonder if hydroponic plant with tube lighting have different vitamins and such contents than those grown in the dirt?

  • Really nicely done, and I really appreciated your comments on the nutrients etc. Nice setup - I am currently in the planning stage of my wife and my hyrdo setup. Really exciting though! Keep up the good work, and would love to know if you have any plans to expand etc. Feel free to PM me. What did this setup cost you?
