The ornament Mr. Swanson adds to the 1920's "pops" flows through his fingers as naturally as if he were a throw-back indeed. It is always a delight, with discernment, never sour; it adds so much. It sounds like he has captured the art from listening to hundreds of rolls and records from the Charleston era. Adam's improvisations are not only characteristic of the era, they are a continuation of the form, and come instantly out of his noggin'. Lap up these musical gifts.
