Kotch - Ooh Baby Baby (Original 1988)

For those not familiar with Kotch, don't be fool...that's not a woman singing. The lead singer Norman Espuet has often been mistaken for a female...given his beautiful high falsetto voice. This track - a nice little version of Smokey Robinson's classic 'Ooh Ooh Baby Baby' was released in 1988 and produced by Sly & Robbie after being signed to their label: Taxi Productions. Kotch didn't seem to have much success but did release a few nice covers mainly of Smokey's. This cover did do particularly well however when it was released, plus they also had a big hit with 'Tears'. The band has split up now, but I heared on the grapevine that they have recently had a big revival in Hawaii of all places.

Yes it is a sweet song... on the original vinyl there is also an instrumental version...which I used to love singing along...even as a woman I still couldn't reach that sweet high voice of his...lol...

and yes..This song and '2 occasions' has been played on the radio in Hawaii since the early 90's late 80's..ever since these songs came out! And they still play it in the rotation to this day!
