Thanks for the answer, one more question: Does FS100 has the histogram like the 5D during filming so you can monitor the shot. If not, how do you monitor the shot? Thanks again!

Histogram

Onscreen display of a histogram enables easier exposure adjustment. The histogram also shows the point where the zebra pattern appears (the zebra point). This enables confirmation of overall brightness distribution and the brightness level set with the zebra function. As well as preventing overexposure, this is useful as a guide when aiming for optimum exposure of certain parts of an image, such as faces.

Thanks! I'm using a 5d Mark II and few Zeiss lens but didn't like the Jello effect when moving quickly, wonder did you encounter this issue. How did you the peak control and the false color setting in the camera? Thank again.

I actually like the 5d better for it's big sensor and my 50mm is actually a 50mm lens on it. I normally use a Marshall LCD for the peaking and false colors. But on this shoot. I just eyeballed the exposure and focus.

But with the fs100 jello is pretty contained and no noticeable moire. So when you shoot rooftops or other sharp edge areas. the jaggies are gone. So that is a big plus over DSLR's

Light Craft Workshop vari ND filter. I bought an adapter off ebay. It is not a brand name converter. Just the E mount to Nikon mount. I bought the 77mm filter and use step rings so I can use it an most of my lenses..

@syberfilm What Variable ND fader did you use? That 58mm f1.2 is expensive.

I got the body only. Since I would probably never use that lens anyway. The camera is fine. I mainly got it because of the uncompressed image output. I really want the F3 for it's 4:4:4 capabilities. In it's price range. It is probably the best bang for the buck at the moment. I use manual focus lenses only. Since I try to treat it like a film camera replacement.

I used a Nikon 58mm F/1.2 lens with a variable ND filter.

You should try to find a 35mm F/1.4.. They produce incredible images with this..

A 50mm F/1.8 is also good and very cheap if you gt Nikon manual focus.

The manual focus lenses are harder to work with but it is all I use. I have pretty much every lens worth owning in the SLR world.

Nikon 85mm F/1.4, 135mm F,2.0, 200mm F/2.0, 58mm F/1.2, 35mm F/1.4, 8-16mm wide angle, anamorphic adapters, plus a ton of other lenses and mics.
