The County of San Diego Department of Parks and Recreation will open two learning centers designed to teach kids the importance of conserving energy and protecting the environment. They are located at the Lakeside and Spring Valley Teen Centers and feature decorations made with recycled materials, environmentally-friendly murals and interactive programs. Young people can participate in various workshops such as Thrifty Thursdays, an after-school activity that teaches kids how to create art with recycled materials. The program is funded through a partnership with SDG&E to educate the community about energy efficiency and conservation.
