Red imported fire ant colony in "ant farm" responding to disturbance (video by B. M. Drees). Note that after disturbance, worker ants (sterile females with stingers and venom sacs) crawl upward towards the disturbance for colony defense while queen ants (larger wingless ants) move down for protection deeper within the colony.
