From the October 16, 1993 edition of USWA wrestling.

And that was it. Eddie Marlin comes out and gives a rah rah rah speech but Vince basically won the feud.

Here's the Lawler Savage write up from the Pro Wrestling Torch:
"Oct. 11 at the Coliseum, Savage pinned Lawler to capture the USWA Unified Title. Savage came off the top rope with an elbow onto Lawler after McMahon knocked out Lawler with a punch. During the match, McMahan tripped Lawler, held his tights, and gave Savage his chair with which to hit Lawler."

Vince didn't send another interview in. Savage never returned to defend the title. The following week they did USWA vs WWF match with Doink, Koko Ware and Shawn Michaels but without any interviews from the WWF guys.

Koko came in a few weeks later and Crush sent in an interview but by the end of November Lawler was out of the WWF and the feud was basically over. What's the old line about the world ending not with a bang but with a whimper?

Hope you enjoyed the Hart McMahon run. Kudos to Pro Wrestling History and the Pro Wrestling Torch which have great on-line archives for putting stuff like this together.

  • Do you have the clip of Doink, Koko B.Ware, Shawn Michaels match or buildup, I seem to recall that Johnny Polo was involved. That was the first match that I ever remember watching on TV, even though I grew up in Memphis I have no memory of watching memphis wrestling until 1993. Thanks for uploading all of this.

  • I do actually. That came right after this. Can't give you a time line as to when I'll get to it but I'll try to get it up here sooner or later.

  • How did the unified title get back in USWA hands?

  • Savage was stripped of the title by the USWA and that was it. It wasn't like the WWF was going to try to keep the actual belt or anything.

  • hey do u have the actual match where savage won the title with mcmahons help?

  • Didn't air on TV. It was still the era when house show business was the key to success so the only way to see many of the big matches was to get to the arena and buy a ticket.

  • The McMahon Corpoation, all one billion dollars of it, rules the world of professional sports entertainment. Most of the former Memphis hick wrestlers now work for $5.50/hour on catfish farms.

  • Eddie was a Hick!

  • USWA superior to what?????????

  • @Halloffamer333 i just tried to Wikipedia, Eddie Marlon myself and he dosen't have a page there. then i tried a Google search and didn't have much luck either. i couldn't find a date of death for him either so i assume he's still alive. i don't know why it's so hard to find any solid info on him though.

  • @popculturestu Did you ever put this clip up? Thanks for uploading the series btw :D

  • i think you gotta google/yahoo search/wikipedia him...cuz no ones heard much from/about him since uswa shut down in '97-'98 (-&/or-so)?!?!?!...

  • Does anyone know if Eddie Marlin is still alive?

  • i do believe that the uswa vacated the belt awhile later 'cause savage wouldnt defend the title...& i do believe that lawler won the tourney/title-deciding match (i forgot who he beat 4 it either way)!!!

  • If WCW was privately owned like WWF was until the late 90's (or was it early 2000's?), it would still be around today. The only reason WWF bought it was because the holding company that took over Ted Turner's company had no interest in it. Bischoff even revealed this in an interview on WWE TV.

  • WWF was also very lucky that McMahon wasn't jailed for the steroids his company was involved in & especially how Vern Gagne promoted his own son over Hogan, which led him to join WWF. Without Hogan, WWF would never have reached the heights it did.

And this guy who's arguing with you has no idea about WCW, which did show the majority of title changes like WWF did (there were tons of title changes that Money Inc had that I read in the Daily News that were never televised).
