On November 25th—the day after Thanksgiving—StoryCorps will celebrate its 4th annual National Day of Listening. We're asking everyone to take a few moments to thank a favorite teacher for making all of the difference. Besides, you've got time. You've shopped 'till you dropped, and it's time to push away from the table.

So...tape a tribute and upload it to YouTube, post a memory on Facebook (@storycorps), or say thanks on Twitter (@storycorps, #thankateacher). It doesn't matter how you say thanks, just say thanks. Because teachers matter! For more info, go to nationaldayoflistening.org.

  • This is a thank a TEACHER video, so to all of you bad "teachers" out there that loosely give yourselves the title of a teacher, please don't assume any of these comments are for you. Good day.

  • that awkward moment when all the comments are a wall of text

  • i want to thank my 4th grade teacher Mrs. Peters who was also like a mother to me when my parents got divorced (given this was a small christian town where divorced werent prevalent). you were my light and my inspiration! Mrs Peters died 2 years ago from a rare condition known as Pick's Disease (a lot like Alzheimer's)... I love you and you will forever be the strength in my life!!!

  • I guess I'll post my thanks here:

Thank you, Miss Sue Gilbert, my 2nd grade teacher. You were the one teacher who stood out to me, and gave me love when I was always came in crying. You appreciated me for who I was, and not what I appeared to be to the other students. Despite having a class full of rambunctious youth at times, you always had a level and loving head on your shoulders. I'll never forget you, and you always hold a special place in my heart. -KK

  • Good stuff, positive attitude.
