  • This is the real deal. Superb in every way.

  • one of the best versions....nah the best doherty one of a kind

  • Great playing. Interesting that he was reportedly influenced by Skinner - certainly both his left and right hand are quite Scottish in style. I guess in Donegal this wouldn't be too unusual? As a Scottish player this is an inspiring example of how Irish tunes sound pretty damned good played with a Scottish twist...

  • One of the best versions of Drowsy Maggie, I have ever heard ! Thank you !

  • what is the name of pianist ?

  • yiiiihaaaa

  • Unreal

  • I also check for Doherty every few months, and this one is one of the best I've seen. I don't remember other performances, either on video or on record, where he plays with an accompanist, so really, neither of them seems prepared for the other, but of course Doherty transcends all here. Also amazing to see him all decked out, isn't it? Does anyone know the occasion.

  • This is fabulous; John Doherty himself. Thank you.

  • GravelWalks, you are brilliant for uploading this. I search for J. Doherty from time to time just to see if there is anything new and low and behold! the man himself playing one of the first reels I learned with a piano player that doesn't realize what she has gotten herself into! As for his playing itself...the English language comes up alittle short...I will just say thank you.
