Players especially, young players get uppity.I have seen it happen in Saint Louis(Murry, Payne). Players lay down because they get paid. Its not the old days,if they get cut they aren't going back at the mill. tough to deal with, but that is why coaches get the same pay.

Gimme a break. The previous coach was Torts. He wasn't a very forgiving coach to play under psychlogically.

I think he is a very smart coach and his brand of hockey is a winning brand but I guess the players just didn't like him personally.

@Chawks24 I really think Barry Melrose was in a losing situation from the word go. Stamkos was going to be a very highly rated/impact player but it was going to take atleast a couple of seasons for thast player to realise that ability. They fired Melrose after the first how many games....20? He never goty a chance plain and simple!!!

I wouldn't play for you either. Brian Lawton, Len Barrie, Oren Koules and Barry Melrose walked in here and almost went completely Montreal Expos on this franchise. By the way "Mr. Hockey", do you still stand by your comments that "The Lightning don't have a chance? The Caps will sweep them"? Of course you can't. Your a horrible coach/player/analyst.
