The Ring videotape parody (GBStv bump)

This is a parody of the videotape featured in "The Ring", which I made as a station bump clip for GBStv, an internet video site.

I made all the 3D elements myself, modeled in Wings3D and animated in Maya. The mirror background was made in zBrush. The audio was pieced together in Audacity from some samples I recorded and some public domain samples I found online. The photo background is assembled from a number of photographs found on U.S. Geological Survey websites. The various assets were composited together using Photoshop and AfterEffects.

The real find was the girl and cat footage. These clips are all from the same public domain Internet Archive film, "Kitty Cleans Up". At the time, I was considering making a Ring parody, so I was looking for clips that would be silly in that context, such as cat footage. When I saw that "Kitty Cleans Up" not only had the requisite cat but *also* footage of a girl brushing her hair from the front and back, I knew I *had* to make this clip.

Apparently, an element of this parody is similar to a "The Ring" parody in one of the Scary Movie films, which I haven't seen. I'm not surprised -- it's a pretty obvious joke.
