Jane FInch Action Against Poverty and Ontario Coalition Against Poverty Came together with other organizations and SSW students from Humber College to Rally Against Poverty. Our country ought to be ashamed of itself; social assistance rates (OW / ODSP) give the choice for recipients to choose a) FOOD or b) RENT - NOT BOTH. Rates haven't been raised since the days of Mike Harris and his draconian workfare policies. Current rates ignore the charter of human rights code. They promote reliance on food banks, families breaking up, begging on the streets and crime. Wake up, Liberals!
