Black Folk Don't: Do Atheism

When is the last time you met a black atheist? Having faith has been a long tradition for black folk in the US and across the world? So is it true that black folk don't do atheism?

I've come across many fellow black atheists. None of my brothers believe in a gods, I have more cousins than I can count who don't. So many writers I know and love like Alice Walker or James Baldwin or DuBois or Douglas and Hughes. We've already made our mark in history, now we just need to be more vocal.

Awesome. This Black Atheist agrees. And my evolution to Atheism began at age 10 when I was told to pray for my grandmother to survive cancer. Like a faithful, brainwashed little Christian I obeyed. Later that year as I stood over her corpse in a casket, I was pissed off and the doubt never left my mind. Opened my eyes, got up off my knees and never looked back.

IF we were closed minded we would never have had Moors, black muslims, black panthers, 5%ers, socialists communists or revolutionaries. Your comment makes no sense. Black people didn't CHOOSE the slave religion, it was beat into them. Black people don't try anything new or different and that's what makes blacks closed-minded. Blacks are so closed-minded and afraid that they (you) keep on believing in this stupid sky daddy nonsense. Black people do all the exact same things: play basketball, eat fried chicken, never read, sing/rap/dance/play music, be a judge or lawyer, follow each other in dress. Tell me how that's openminded.
