I think it's a cow tongue. Mark Romanek said that it was a part of one of the Man Ray photos he referenced.

The fact that it was used in the video must mean their might be some innuendo behind it.

i don´t remember the name of the song, but i know that is in the halo "futher down the spiral", the halo next to "downward spiral"
