@GenerationsDead yeah I agree but his assholeness was part of his personality and i kind of think he isnt as entertaining.
-
@pfmo5678ramone yeah he's deffo playing it fair and being a good sport with lauren lavern here...it's because he knows he wouldn't get any satisfaction from wiping the floor with her as he could do that in his sleep...far more pleasurable and satisfying to humiliate fry and sautee the brains of asshole journalists that deserve an intellectual bitch slap.

lol, j l, no no just deliberate fear
-
This may come to some as a touch 'inside', however, what truth about performing for people. It's funny how the women interviewing him is just uncapable of "getting it". Lol. Great bit of insight. Loved it.

Rotten is much less of an asshole now that he has gotten older.

@sail1948 Hanging around with his fans, showing his heart, and inspiring people to live for stuff that matters and not idiotic rules set up by people to make money and oppress others. The pistols never really cared about much and I think that is the image Malcolm set up for them. But the Clash cared about ideals and helping other people, and stating the honest facts about politics and control. By RAF I don't mean the Royal Air Force but the Red Army Faction of Germany, who used violent action
-
@sail1948 I don't think John was in it for only money, although I do think he was more or less used by Malcolm. But it is what music means to the individual, and for those following, and for John himself he was speaking out against the bullshit that society has made, and how it is self defeating to the individual. Without the Pistols their wouldn't be the Clash as we know them, and Joe Strummer was one of the most caring and honest people out there, who made next to nothing in the end.

@relaxingmusic101 I dont criticise Mr.Rotten for not being a rebel I criticise him for pretending to be one. If you think he was in it for anything but the money you're kidding yourself. Incidentally Malcolm Mclaren called the whole thing "The great rock and roll swindle". I cant help but agree. I'm puzzled as to what tye RAF have to do with anything.
-
@sail1948 Because you criticize John for not being a rebel. If being front man of one of the first punk rock bands and screaming ANARCHY IN THE UK isn't being rebellious enough for you and questioning the system, then obviously you seek to change it through violent revolution like the RAF.
-
@relaxingmusic101 Ha Ha Ha!! I've often fought in the streets but have to admit it wasnt against the government. Why do you assume that I think a real rebel has to fight against the government?
hes being very generous in this interview...i've seen interviews where absolutely rips the people interviewing him to shreds.
