District Unknown is the first (and for now only) Metal band from Afghanistan. *That* alone makes them being history. At this moment there's no recording (audio or video) the I can find about them, but this one.

It was taken from http://argusproductions.blogspot.com/2010/11/district-unknown-live-in-kabul.html and I'm just re-posting it here because, there, it is hosted on Google Video, which is going to cease to exist, and I don't know if Argus Productions are planing on migrating it to Youtube or not, and it would be a shame if the only record of their sound would be lost... So, here it is.

This video is a cover of Marilyn Manson's "Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)". Yes, I know that it makes it a shock rock (and not Metal) track (who cares, really), and yes, I know that Sweet Dreams isn't from Marilyn Manson (yet, if you listen to this video you'll notice that they're surely covering Marilyn Manson's version, not any other).

Comments and stuff like that... shoot.

  • These guys need to visit the UK sometime :)

  • Wooww that's amazing. I was there 2004-2008. I was the only girl who wore converse and had studded bags and accessories. man ppl think you re a satanist or some shit. but now i appreciate the factthat some ppl actually care about rock music in that country.

  • @JoaoMRocha1990

Well, they sound like crap, but like you say: they got guts and that's a huge thumbs up!

  • They got guts... the Taliban are really afraid of things like this... if you make your own choices regarding your music tastes (this meaning outside what they deem acceptable) or even worse, if you make your own music (specially if it is "western music"), you're painting a target on your back.

I commend their courage and I would like to see what they got going over there... I mean, who knows? They might hit it big time if they get their music out of their Country...
