he could've been bigger than deep purple if he just did what he wanted instead of getting signed by a label and be told to play "commercial" songs at that point of time

@123tan123 If you believe that, you haven't a clue just how loving our God is. Believing THAT is heresy and blasphemy, a sin against God, and those who believe it are very close to hellfire. If God's name is Mercy, would Mercy condemn an act committed by a sick, despairing child desperate to escape intolerable pain? You need to pray earnestly to the Holy Spirit to enlighten your mind about His True Nature - He will - you just need to ask, He'll do the rest. I'll pray for you, too.

@samisunc (Cont from above) Often once someone has made the decision to kill themselves, they feel relieved and happy - they know their suffering will soon be over. Read about depression, addiction and suicide and you'll understand somewhat. Not fair to blame the coroner - do you really think the family would allow his suicide to become public knowledge if they thought it was an accident? Why would they deliberately expose themselves to that shame if it weren't true? ,

@samisunc As someone with an artistic temperament who has struggled with depression and addictions all my life, it is no surprise to me when I hear an artist struggling with depression AND an addiction to alcohol has committed suicide. You could never understand unless you've gone through it. Plus, you don't really know everything going on in his life at the time, or his innermost feelings. Only his family would really know, and even then not fully. Continued below:

@CABALOGrealmshackers
It's a generic chord progression, heard on a lot of old songs. One, which Del gives a hint at here, is 'Blue Moon'.

This post may be taken from a TV special Burton Cummings did back in the 80's. The show featured Burton interviewing and performing with Del Shannon and Carl Perkins. In the show, Carl explained how he got the idea for the song Blue Suede Shoes. Carl saw a young couple on a U.S. college campus having a spat...the girl was giving the guy the business...getting right up in his face. He just stood there and took it from her, all he told her was: "Don't step on my shoes"!

@AjaxEddiefan That's correct -- it was a CBC special called "Going For Gold".
