I am a Dravidian myself. I was just telling you the contemporary TRUTH during the time of Valmiki. Many literature & contemporary practices during that period compares the Dravidians as monkeys in contrast to the great Aryans. If you really think about it, it all makes perfect sense why Valmiki chose to say that an army of monkeys helped the North Indian Aryans when they came to South India... in fact he was depicting the Dravidians as good people... helping the Aryans.

The Truth:

Ram & Laxman were Aryans from north India. The monkeys (dark & ugly) are all Dravidians (south Indians). Dravidians were considered so inferior that when Valmiki wrote the story, he chose to call them "monkeys", because they were uncouth, not-sophisticated, not majestic like the Aryans.. they were more akin to monkeys in the eye of an Aryan :-D
