A PERFECT example of why the Bolshoi is so great. Great dancers - beautifully trained - but ALLOWED (and probably encouraged) to "hurl" themselves into the dance. What you are seeing is a staggering amount of rehearsal time combined with great partnering and the ability to give up their souls (technically and creatively) to the music and performance. It's my favorite piece ever and if I ever have the privilage to live another life then I want to be them!!!!

I was lucky enough to see this amazing partnership perform this live when the Bolshoi were in London in the early eighties and was completely blown away by it. As a young ballet student the hairs on the back of my neck were standing on end. Electric. The shear joy, energy and exuberance they both displayed was humbling to watch. if I hadn't already been in love with ballet this would convince me (plus the wonderful Spartacus from Mukhamedov).

@Buondelmonte123 FOR SOME MISTERYOUS REASON ROYAL BALLET THINCK S BEING GREAT,BUT I SINCE LIVED ONE YEAR IN LONDON IN FAR 79 FIND THEM GREATLY BORING,AND SINCE SER A DOWELL AND WAYNE SLEEP HAD NO A DECENT MALE DANCER.NOW ALL PRINCIPAL ARE STRANGERS AS IN EUROPEAN FOOTBALL TEAMS.

And I, my dears, started the applause in The Tent that night when Bylova hurled herself into Nikonov's arms. Members of the Royal Ballet were in the audience that night too, they thought it vulgar and unmusical, but I think it's just wonderful. So uplifting and inspiring.
