  • If I was going to build one similar I would start with the engine and drive train I prefer then build the rest of the car around it. My two preferred ways would be hayabusa engine maxed out with all the good stuff or Electric w/ a 5 speed trans and independent rear axle. Only thing stopping me is $

  • @wantblackwolf Some builders are already fitting bike engines, fireblades, R1's and soon hayabusa's so if you want to know more google the 'MEV Owners' website and take a look at the Owners Forum.

  • awesome!! thinking of building one next year after seeing it at MPH motorshow last week. What were the specs of that one? (engine etc)

  • The RTR demonstrator is currently fitted with a standard 1.8 Zetec from a Ford Focus. Check out there website at 'roadtrackrace'

  • Hi, we have a rocket with 191bhp, and on a twisty road, (or track) nothing supercarlike can touch it. Only things that can keep up are well driven caterhams.

Hope you are enjoying your kit Nigel :-)

  • @sirlonghair Actually, my boss has a 2.0l rocket putting out 191bhp, and on the road it's just as fast as his other car, which happens to be a Lambo 560-4. Having taken it on track, the Rocket eats Skylines, so there it would also leave the Lambo for dead.

  • Federal 595, very nice.

  • @rapidrory I don't think that the Rocket will pose any great threat or compertition to Ariel's Atom.

But rember the Aerial Atom is not really a true production car as large chunks such as the engine and drive train are lifted straight out the Honda Civic. Also Aerial are really a design and assembly facility and subcontract out most of the detailed manufacture, even the chassis manufacture/assy/wielding is outsourced.

Still its a dam fine car and if I had the money I'd have one.

  • @NigelP21 The guys at ariel are NOT fans of replicas or copy's (or kit cars i assume, but i didn't talk to them about that) as you would imagine.

I would agree with the whole getting a replica because of not having enough money thing, but having been in an atom 300 and having been closely linked with the company, i would have to get the real thing or nothing at all, as i would feel as if i had betrayed ariel slightly if i got a replica

  • would it be possible to fit a 2.5L duratec engine in one of these?

  • worst donut ever
