Although it is an interesting volley of data the pure fact is la fwys are jammed full of traffic 22 hours a day. Most every other american city only experiences that type of volume at rush hours (AM & PM). I've been to chicago dozens of times and at 9pm u can go anywhere at speed limit. La can only be driven at speed limit from 330am until 450am that is a fact based on 24 Yeats of driving at all hours due to strange calltimes and late night gigs.

@Freshbott2 The Bus and Light Rail networks in Los Angeles are among the busiest in the Country. The subway system is underdeveloped yet servicable. Also, LA has had commuter rail now for 20 years. The fact remains, it is STILL easier to drive everywhere in LA. There are more cars on LA's freeways than there are PEOPLE in Chicago or Houston.

We went to LA a year ago for March Break. We got into LAX at 10:30 and didn't get out of the airport until mid night. We had to get onto the 405 to get to our hotel. At mid night it was bumper to bumper but we were doing about 90 KM/H(around 65 MPH). Not even highway speed in Canada(100KM/H but everyone does 120 on the 401 lol). Then we had to leave the hotel at 7:00 AM so we could get to Santa Monica before 2:00. We were stuck in traffic for 2 hours.

Holy sh*t...and I thought I had it bad in Atlanta. FML if I had to live there! And umm....where's the shoulder of the highway, in case of break downs/wrecks. I don't really see one in this picture. And how do emergency crews get by in that mess! That's insane!

Umm, I think LA needs to focus on some public transport and less sprawl. I bet a lot of people driving in the LA traffic ask themselves why they live there.

All of the freeways in Cali are bitch, plain and simple, and no other place has it worse, only we that live in the LA area can understand the frustrations of traveling on the 405, 101, 10, 5, and so on and so forth,..they are packed all day, they only got some relief for an hour or two at the most, and only sometimes, rare occasions where they are running smooth
