Black smoke is cool and all, but all that is just wasted fuel. I mean, of course if you have a shitload of hp and torque, there's no way to control that smoke. So in this case, HELL YEAH SMOKE IT! But if you have a tuner and maybe an intake, and you're blowing smoke, there's something wrong, you're also losing power.
Lot of smoke = Not healthy.
No smoke = Too healthy
So in the end, a little bit of smoke is good, because

diesel smoke is not harmful to the environment. if you believe otherwise you are simply ignorant of how diesel work. a diesel, smoke and all, will pollute less than a gas engine. that is a fact.
