VW T2 Camper, not running well.

Just turning the van round and its not very happy. Not surprising due to about 20 years of neglect, oh and i have taken a few bits off aswell. 2 litre type 4 engine. Should be mended soon!

@triper491 The engine backfired and actually blew a rubber elbow off the servo vacuum pipe!

Time for a new engine, and maybe get rid of that purple. In white with orange, yellow, red, green or even black would look nicer. Great van, it still has lots of potential.

@imfercho A new engine was not required! Also the purple has gone. (I hated it) It is now back to its original colour Marino Yellow.

I was going to say usually backfires like that means ignition problems..

usuall coil or bad wires or timing off something within that nature..

But you said you had it wired wrong and that of course that would also be related to an ignition / timing issue..

which is what I would have guessed at.. (and did)
