they made 10 road going GTRs to fulfill the regulations but the rules were altered after for the next season.

because in the m3 gtr isn v8 engine and in the street car (M3 E46) is not an v8 and if you read the rules, you know that the street version must have an v8 too.
so bmw build the m3 e92 with v8 so they can drive with the m3 gt2 in lemans this year
