Dale "Snort" Snodgrass
F-86 Sabre
2002 NAS Oceana Airshow
NAS Oceana, Virginia
Saturday September 21, 2002
IN THIS VIDEO, watch as Snort flies the AT&T-sponsored F-86 Sabre over NAS Oceana. Take note of how VERY LOW Snort flies his opening pass - he tells me his wingtip was no more than ten feet off the ground in this pass, which is usually lower than he traditionally flies. He also states that he "wasn't that low" and that it was perfectly safe to fly that low. Please do NOT mention in your comments that this kind of flying is reckless - it is NOT. Snort and every other aerobatic pilot reiterate that their performances are well-practiced before each airshow as well as during the off-season. Each pilot knows where the line is, so to speak, and perform their routines in a way to not cross that line. I apologize for the poor audio tracking in this video.
If you are interested in purchasing DVDs of specific aircraft or of airshows, interested in everything related to airshows (where the jet teams will be, all airshow performers, airshow reports from airshows I have attended, previews of airshows I will be attending, etc.), and/or everything related to aviation - including spotting guides to my favorite airports and military bases and aircraft factfiles, please visit Steve's Airshow World at http://www.stevesairshow.com .
I knew him when he was Lt. Snodgrass. in VF 142 Ghostriders. He used to bring his Tomcat back with all of the speedy fasteners popped loose from stresses on the fuselage during what were supposed to be "regular hops" His RIO MAC often looked very pale on their return. He was well respected by officer and enlisted alike! Petty Officer Goodwin, Plane Captain
