Our friend Kelsey's little pit/lab mix, Nellie, doesn't even care that she's short a front leg--amputated on veterinary advice rather than suffering with a badly-healed multiple fracture--but swimming presented a unique challenge when down a bow thruster!
Kelsey told us the first time she went swimming post-surgery, she was perplexedly swimming in circles--until she adapted and started using a cross-body stroke with her remaining foreleg. Not only that, but she started actively using her tail as tiny stern thruster!
Here, she's romping in the surf off one of the many small islands on Lake Anna, then going for a swim, tail a-slapping. :D
Rock on Nellie!
