Hi... good question. I went to worldwidewas dot com and found out that the WNW version was released in 1981. Wham! covered it (I think) in 1984 or '85, but it's hard to know for sure, because I didn't find any site that confirmed who had actually written it. Hope that helps... WHAT a great band they are, though, hey?

Georgie's was a cover of the Was (not was)'s originally recorded song. Love these guys but their original WDYHG recorded here is not their finest work. Still enjoyable though.

I don't mind bands doing covers - so long as they give it their own interpretation. WNW's James Brown cover is quite funky i reckon. George Michael's not a bad songwriter. And he certainly had 80s pop music fans pretty worked out!

Wham's version is so much better than this that it's an insult to even have to say it.. But I remember on the credits, that D. Was was credited with writing it.. I just never made that connection until a just now

I like Was (Not Was), but having heard this I do think Wham's version is superior. Wham released this on their farewell EP back in 1986.

@allcatslover i bought wham the final in 86.i wondered if some songs were fillers.its not the first cover wham did.i did enjoy/still do like whams version.was not was covered inxs listen like thieves .totally different to the original.but a great cover.

Where did their wonderful voice go? I have their CD and the song is far more bettter than this (I think that was better than George)

Just jump to the other version (that says "004") is far better than this one. @AllCAtsLover... covering is not plagiarism. What's "not clean" about it ? All bands begin with covers.
