@Letmehelpsaveyou How can we be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord, if it's only a symbol? Notice that Paul didn't say sinning against the symbol of the body and blood of the Lord.
On the Priest, darling if I were to start your head would spin for I would have to go and start from the OT to show you why Israel is Israel in the first place. I have to retire to my bed now, I will return.
@Letmehelpsaveyou 26 For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes. 27 So then, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. 28 Everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup. 29 For those who eat and drink without discerning the body of Christ eat and drink judgment on themselves.
@Letmehelpsaveyou 1 Cor 11: 3 For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, 24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” 25 In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.”
@Letmehelpsaveyou Well in case you're still in doubt, let's see what St. Paul tells us. 1 Cor 10: 16 Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ? 17 Because there is one loaf, we, who are many, are one body, for we all share the one loaf. Paul affirms blood and body of Christ NOT symbol of blood and body of Christ.
@Letmehelpsaveyou So here we see that Jesus tells us that it IS His body and His blood. He doesn't say it's a symbol of body and blood, but IS His body and blood. There should be no doubt that we are supposed to literally eat His flesh and blood. As for it being done by the Priest I already went over the Priest issue and Christ did tell the Priest, His apostles, to do it in remembrance of him, and we already went over apostolic succession right?
@Letmehelpsaveyou and then ofcourse we go to the Last Supper: Matt 26: 26 While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.”27 Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. 28 This is my blood of the[b] covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.
@Letmehelpsaveyou and then what do doubters do? they say the teaching is too hard to accept and they walk away. What did Christ do? He allowed them to leave. They knew he literally meant his flesh and did he try to explain it to them that he meant it symbolically? Nope he simply allowed them to walk away bcus what he really meant was his flesh.
@Letmehelpsaveyou 3 Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. 54 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. 55 For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. 56 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them. WHOA HE SAYS IT'S HIS FLESH AGAIN.
@Letmehelpsaveyou But what is that bread? 51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.” WOW that's right the BREAD IS JESUS' FLESH. Imagine that, no symbol of flesh written here, just simply flesh. And then they doubted that it's possible just as you doubt and what does he do? He confirms it again.
@Letmehelpsaveyou 35 Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. Did Jesus just call himself bread? Yes that's right he did, and he said He is the bread from heaven, and guess what he told us to do with that bread? Yes eat. 50 But here is the bread that comes down from heaven, which anyone may eat and not die.
