Two different worlds meet each other here in this video.
Asia and middle / South-America (Costa Rica)
As we have been traveling for years now, and have spend most of the time in either one of the countries Thailand or Costa Rica, I need to share this.
Here are some insights and insider tips from an experienced traveler on differences, similarities, pros and cons of these two beautiful, tropical countries.
I hope this video does help you, BEFORE you decide to go on a holiday or even move to one of those countries.

Well Costarricans consume a lot of media and specially the bad news sells a lot, maybe you know the newspaper "La Extra", well that one is really sensacionalistic and is the most read newspaper in CR. Yes I think that there are place that you must be cautious but is also quite mentally the fear.

I read that theft is a huge problem in Costa Rica.

I've also spent time in Costa Rica and Thailand and everything Ka says is accurate.
One thing I will mention is the fences in Costa Rica are from the Spanish architecture so even though they are real fences it's actually decorative. You don't need the fences in most places in Costa Rica even if you see them.
In Thailand the "riots" in Bangkok were very relaxed. The protesters planted rice so they expected to be there for 3 months. They knew the government would not attack them.
Both are great

i love the fact that costa rica has no army. I went there and felt soo peaceful. I think the farmlands of costa rica are probably the better parts of the country.

very good. helps to hear others' viewpoints. all the security measures one sees in latin american countries is both disturbing and sad. but it is true that if it isn't cemented down it "walks away". costa rica is on my list to visit. right now thailand is the best as i am not concerned with blending in. i am content being a farang. thais are very friendly, respectful and i try to follow their example not only when i am i thailand, but anywhere i go.
