  • What does Meyer say about blocking, in terms of whether you should used the blade or the strong of the flat to block attacks?

  • @Halofreakanoid With regard to the Rose, or in general? In general, I know he describes both -- there's lots of variation he gives. For the Rose, I don't recall any instance of using the flat -- but I think the important thing to consider is: just because he doesn't say it, doesn't mean you shouldn't try it. Lots of interesting things get discovered by trying stuff -- and I personally don't assume Meyer (or anyone) wrote down every single possibility.

  • @fortejeff : It was more of a in general question, but thank you. I knew he used both, but in different ways. Someone is trying to tell me that blocking with the flat is a terrible thing to do when in fact I see entire stances and techniques based around it.

  • @Halofreakanoid Oh -- in that case, blocking with the flat is definitely described. I really don't prescribe to either extreme of "always block with the edge" or "always block with the flat". Both have their place.

  • You are a true scholar. I know you get accalades but it is truly a skill to take the ancient manuscripts and give them life

  • Thanks very much! Accolades are always welcome. :-)
